24″ x 30″
oil, cold wax and galkyd on canvas

Mabel at the Wedding was done from a photo I found with my mom’s old family photographs. She is a mystery child at an unknown wedding circa early 20th century. I thought she was cute. In the original photo the child is standing in sunlight and is squinting because it is so bright. I ended up giving the painting an opaque black background. Someone mentioned to me that her expression seems more like a scowl. I don’t mind either way.

I just finished. When it’s completely dry I will apply a finish of cold wax and galkyd to give the painting a uniform semi-gloss sheen.
