Out in the Open
Watercolor on cold pressed paper
11″x14″ – 16″x20″ framed
This is a watercolor I did from an old family photograph, circa 1930’s. It’s of my great aunt Noni, whom I never met. In all the photographs I have of her she is young, and has this incredibly fresh expression in her looks, but with an agitated longing under the surface. I feel compelled to continually paint her. I think I’m trying to get to know her. I can’t help but wonder what she was feeling in that moment the photograph was taken.
