This is a companion portrait to “Baby” I did a few years ago. I am using Prismacolor color pencils and watercolor pencils on art board. I go back and forth between loving the translucent effect and tight control of color pencil, and the creamy soft quality of pastel. Color pencil for me tends to reach the saturation point before I am ready to be finished with the piece sometimes. This one came together well, but often I don’t know until the end if it’s going to work.
