This small painting was done from a photo of my grandmother when she was a little girl. I love how she watches her shadow as she twirls her skirt in the light that streams in from behind her.
The First Day

This painting was done from an old photo I found of my great-grandmother on her first communion. I wanted to visually blur the line of the traditional commitment to God as a youth, and that of eventually becoming a bride to a man as a young woman.
