My mom’s cousin back around 1948. She was not a happy little girl when this photo was taken. I isolated her face from a group photo of her with other children. Apparently she did not want to be in the picture at that moment. I think there is something universally sad, and also pretty about her expression.

The layering process is going very well. I love being able to incorporate soft thin layers with subtle texture. I might get more bold with this process in the future, but I seem to want to keep the layers thin. Each translucent layer adds a depth beyond the actual thickness of the applied wax and paint.
